감독님은 한국계 미국인으로 스텝의 대부분이 미국인입니다. 즉, 영화<바다>는 미국 프로덕션
시스템으로 진행될 예정이며 한국뿐만 아니라 국제적으로 유럽, 아시아 그리고 미국으로 마케팅을
할 것입니다.
제주도에서 촬영 될 예정으로 촬영에 앞서 진행될 리허설 및 작품에 필요한 작업에 협조적일 수 있는 배우를 찾습니다. 경력이 많은 것도 중요하지만, 연기에 대한 진지함과 열정으로 진정성 있게 소통할 수 있는 배우를 찾습니다.
배귀삼 (40-45), 중년의 해녀. 조용하고 내성적이며 소외된 존재
귀삼은 다른 해녀와 공동체를 찾기보다는 수중 작업과 작은 집 사이를 통근하면서 최소한의 접촉을 유지한다. 귀삼은 두 아이를 기리기며 홀로 살고 있다. 그녀의 아들은 그가 갓난아기였을 때 남편에게 빼앗겼고, 딸은 귀삼의 해녀 생활을 물려받지 못하도록 제주를 떠나 교육을 받게 하려고 모든 돈을 딸을 위해 쓴다. 귀삼은 감정을 억제하고 주위 사람들과 감정적인 거리를 유지한다. 육체적 노동이 습관화된 신체와 중간 정도의 키 자연스럽게 늙어간다.
김광혁 (19-23), 흑인혼혈의 한국청년, 미군의 아버지를 그는 알지 못한다. 그의 어린 엄마는 그를 불안정하게 양육하다가 그가 10살쯤 되던 해에 그를 버리고 떠난다. 어린 나이에 혼자 남겨진 그에게 관심을 가진 유일한 사람은 광혁이 자신의 멘토이자 '가족'으로 여기지만 전과자 형이다. 광혁은 '형'을 통해 범죄 생활로 빨려 들어간다. 젊은 시절, 그에게는 집처럼 안정적으로 부를 수 있는 어떤 사람이나 장소에서도 찾지 못했다. 그는 경호를 받지만, 마음 깊은 곳에서는 사랑과 인정을 갈망한다.

We are an international co-production with a Korean-American director and many American crew members. As an arthouse independent film, we will market this film not only in Korea, but internationally in Europe, Asia and the US. We are looking for committed actors who are willing to give their full dedication in rehearsal and on set. We greatly respect experience, but more importantly, we are looking for those with a passion to act and and a passion to tell this story with us.
BAE GUI SAHM 40-45, a middle-aged haenyeo. Quiet and withdrawn, Gui Sahm leads an isolated existence. Rather than finding community with the other haenyeo, Gui Sahm keeps minimal contact, commuting between her work underwater work and her small house. Gui Sahm lives alone, in a house dedicated to the memory of her two children- her son who was taken from her when he was a toddler and her daughter who she has spent all her money to give her an education away from Jeju and protect her from inheriting the haenyeo life. Gui Sahm keeps her emotions in and maintains an emotional distance from those around her. Habituated to physical work, medium height and build; natural, no obvious plastic surgery, aging naturally without much thought to her physical appearance.
KIM KWANG HYUK 19-23, a half-black Korean young man. Never having known his American GI father, his young Korean mother gave him an unstable upbringing, until she abandoned him in his early teens. Left on his own at an early age, the only person who took interest in him is a struggling small-time criminal whom Kwang Hyuk considers his his mentor and "family." Through his "hyung", Kwang Hyuk has been drawn into a life of crime. In his young life, he has yet to find in any person or place he can call home. He is guarded, but deep down, he craves love and acceptance. Any height, fluent, native Korean speaking, black and Korean.
